So, I finally wanted to scrap my blackberry for something else, not because I was unhappy with it. The constant “flawless” push email by blackberry was taking a toll on my personal life.

The seemingly familiar Nokia e63 that I got a few months back was now out. Installed the Nokia messaging application that is “supposed” to provide blackberry like push mail experience. The installation went smooth, so was the account setup.

Unfortunately, Nokia hasn’t tested this app! No emails being pushed despite always on settings. Slow load times, and searching a bit online revealed I was not alone!

Just had a friend use this product last week while he was travelling to Europe. The first reviews are mixed:

1. Definitely saves money on incoming calls as compared to regular internatioanl roaming rates.

2. Data does not work.

3. The SIM is valid for just 6 months from so you will have to get a new sim  if you travel after 6 months.

Overall I expect better -ervices as competition from Vodafone or reliance comes in. Good step by airtel on their World SIM card overall!

Just checked in a tata communications store yesterday, and their cool looking mobile broadband device, the photon plus is now available in prepaid for Rs. 2399/-

All the mobile broadband companies seem to have slashed the prices of their devices by as much as Rs. 1100-1300 and its evident that they are int he race to capture more market share than before!
